In spring of 2007 the London Borough of Enfield instructed us to carry out external repairs and redecorations to two different cemeteries within the borough. We tendered for a price of £26,226 and carried out the works under budget at £24,552 and within the time scale that the programme allowed for.
The works were carried out under the JCT Repair and Maintenance Contract (Commercial) (RM2006) for both the Edmonton Cemetery and the Lavender Hill Cemetery.
The works to Lavender Cemetery consisted of external redecorations and repairs to the Lodge (shared with flat), Chapel 1 and Messroom.
The works included:
- Applying surface biocides to kill existing growths of moss & lichen.
- Repair of roofs
- Realignment of guttering
- Repainting of woodwork & metalwork
- Repainting of cast iron gutters and downpipes
- Steeple repairs
- Lead flashing repairs
- Repointing
Edmonton Cemetery works consisted of external repairs and redecorations to the Office Block (shared with flats), the Main Chapel and the Stores Block. The works carried out included: -
- Repainting of woodwork and metalwork
- Repainting of window cills and rendered surfaces
- Repainting of cast iron gutters and downpipes
- Repainting of masonry door surrounds
- Reparation of roof
- Repointing
- Reparation of masonry wall
Works were carried out with respect and quiet understanding with every consideration given to those working and visiting the area.
